One of my favorite things to do is work out! You probably think I’m crazy, but there’s just something so freeing about breaking a sweat at least once a day. I grew up as an athlete so going to the gym, lifting a few weights or doing some extra stretching is nothing new to me. Working out is great for your mind, body and best of all, your skin, not to mention it can significantly relieve stress. I know, though, for some people going to work out can be some sort of a task. Well I’m here to ease your worries and show you some cool ways to make working out more enjoyable.

1. Make a scene
Working out with some awe-inspiring scenery around me can really motivate me to not only enjoy my surroundings, but also get a thrill out of my training session. Rather than working out inside a gym, I prefer to go outside and use nature as my own personal inspiration. Some of my favorite spots include the park, running around the city and of course, the beach!
2. Listen to your favorite music
I do love to work out but, I don’t always want to do it. What really helps get me pumped up and excited is listening to some good old tunes. I love to listen to my music on Spotify where I can easily create my own playlists. Whether I’m in the mood for some Drake, Zedd or John Mayer, Spotify has me covered for my entire exercise session.

3. Do it with a friend
Nothing is more fun than getting in shape with a good friend. Since becoming a university student-athlete, I’ve become used to being around a team. Everything seems to be more exciting when you, along with a group of people, are working towards a similar goal. It’s also extremely encouraging to know that you and your friend are in it together and willing to push each other to the max.
4. Grab your best workout gear
I mean if you’re going to sweat might as well do it in style, right? Honestly, it doesn’t really matter what I’m doing, but I always want to look and feel my best. I’m sure a lot of people can agree with that. Nike, Lululemon, H&M and even Forever21 provide options for fabulous workout gear that will get you going.
5. Mix it up
The key to enjoying a good workout is to change it up. If you are constantly doing the same workout again and again it can become boring. I suggest one day doing some cardio, maybe the next some yoga and mixing in exercises for your abs and glutes, but also your shoulders and back. If you are stumped on what to do, check out the Nike Training App there is no shortage of workouts you can do. You can also find exercises for your specific problem areas there.
My last tip is to just enjoy the process! Working out can be fun and also be hugely beneficial. When you set your mind to something, you can accomplish it. Don’t set limits for yourself, love every minute of it and like the Nike slogan, Just Do It!
